Within this context, your mission in this role is to support demand management in the ideation phase and early stages of IM projects as part of the Functional Domain SRD (Supply Chain, Research and Development).
In doing so you ensure that solutions are compatible with the existing (technical) architecture, and compliant in all key aspects. As such, you must be able to translate business needs into shared solutions architecture requirements via a sophisticated knowledge of best practice solutions in the shared solutions space. You will be part of a global team with other solution architects located in different regional hubs, in this case China, the US and The Netherlands.

The role and its responsibilities
This position is based at our regional hub in Arnhem, the Netherlands, from where your core task is to translate moderately complex business demands into (detailed) requirements and appropriate solutions within the functional/technical area of Plant Maintenance.
Thus you design, document and implement fit for purpose and best practice solutions in adherence with the solutions design. In doing so you apply a structured approach and ensure that solutions are compatible with the existing architecture to assure compliance with strategy, policy, guidelines, budget, and operational supportability.
This requires you to design integration components and interfaces and to produce integration test specifications and input to training plans. You also perform impact assessments on business demand and high level requirements to uncover and mitigate gaps.
As necessary you review the services maturity for a specific Pant Maintenance area and propose initiatives to improve the service.
In a wider sense you work with other Solution Architects to develop detailed project charters for our Investment Portfolio, producing roadmaps and aligning on strategy and direction. In doing so you interact with Enterprise Architecture, Business Information Managers and others, maintaining these relationships to improve the quality and relevance of projects. You also support IM projects and develop Proof of Concepts and Pilots.
At all times you proactively seek continuous business and service improvements, along with opportunities to build cross-functional working relationships including external parties. You also identify innovations within the architecture domains and facilitate management support.
In addition you coordinate the identification and assessment of new and emerging technologies, products, methods and techniques in conjunction with the Enterprise Architecture team. You also influence others with regard to the importance of Solution Architecture in the business.
As such, this position demands an ability to remain neutral toward technology, vendor and product choices, more interested in results than personal preference. You must also be able to balance the long-term and big picture view with the short-term implications of decisions, whilst also focusing on the detail.

Master/Bachelor degree in Business Management, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field;
Professional with several years of experience in the IT sector, including solid experience in the SAP Plant Maintenance Application Domain;
Broad knowledge and experience of architecture, technology platforms and business domains with relevant experience in the SRD functional domain;
Experience in the SAP Plant Maintenance implementation of projects and programs;
Experience in IT change management procedures;
Ability to rapidly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new trends and technologies, especially in the SAP ecosystem;
Preferably knowledge of Prometheus software tooling;
Strong analytical skills over multiple technical domains to identify opportunities and solutions;
Business process modelling and application architecture design (logical and physical) frameworks (TOGAF), tools, technologies, methodologies;
Fluent written and spoken English.
