Terminal Preliminary Works is a collection of infrastructural and construction projects, needed to enable the construction of terminal, airside aprons, pier, taxi ways, etc. These works are on the critical path of the pier & terminal construction and will take place in an operational airport environment. Preliminary works will have impact on Schiphol and airline operations and have a high stakeholder involvement.
As our new Projectmanager Preliminary Works youll be accountable for the delivery of the Terminal Preliminary (Enabling) Works in time and on budget and in accordance with the project goals, scope and applicable procedures and standards, including those for quality and safety. This means:
Providing leadership and pro-actively managing the Project Managerent/Construction Management firm from appointment and throughout the delivery phase to handover and operations. Monitor the delivery of outputs, progress, economics, and risk associated with the activities of the PM/CM firm. Approving changes to project scope, cost or timescales under the Programme Director.
Serving as a day to day contact for the PM/CM firm.
Implementing strategic project objectives and communicating project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within the boundaries of Schiphol and the Capital Programme.
During execution, guide the PM/CM firm in selecting and managing contractors, optimizing procurement and supply chain strategies, monitoring the overall execution of the project, and driving productivity in the construction yard.
Being aware of technical delivery issues associated with the project so that it can be competent to assess project delivery and risk issues.
Assess and manage interfaces with other relevant projects, impacting on Preliminary Works.
Implementing, supporting and monitoring the methods as defined by the Delivery, Design and Commercial Teams in the activities of the PM/CM firm. This includes:
Working in collaboration with the Design Team to ensure stakeholder satisfaction and an effective design process.
Working in collaboration with the Delivery Team to ensure an integral schedule, HS&E policies achieved, all necessary logistics are for the projects implemented and a QA&AC strategy is implemented.
Working in collaboration with the Commercial Team to ensure compliancy with the budget, a successful procurement process, decision about changes and implement effective and proactive risk management.
Keeping other Capital Programme members and teams involved, informed and aligned.
Fully participating with PM/CM in a client role engaging in all activities related to the preliminary works, from design to procurement, construction, testing and commissioning, ORAT and hand over.
To be successful in this highly challenging role, you need to have Bachelors or Masters in Engineering, d a minimum of ten (10) years experience in project management and a minimum of five (5) years experience in a client/executive role. Also, you’ll bring a
Proven track record in project management at an airport in an operational environment.
Professional working proficiency in English (mandatory).
