Organisational Effectiveness Consultant
This role is intended for a part- or full-time individual, on a 6-9 month fixed-term contract, interested in the future of work, and in helping ING to diagnose and design what career paths and competency models are fit for the future.
You will work as a bridge between the Global HR Centres of Expertise in Talent & Learning and Performance & Reward, to align our view on self-driven talent management with a new Global Job Architecture for implementation across ING globally. This will require work with competency mapping/models in corporate environments; consolidating multiple sources of information (both practical and academic) to identify gaps, conflicts, issues around understanding/clarity and articulating what best or current practices look like, both internally at ING as well as externally.
What you will do
Investigating and consolidating information on existing competency frameworks or their alternative forms (Maturity Models, Job Career Frameworks, etc.) that are common in corporate organisations, and currently at ING, by partnering with Talent & Learning team members, and key HR Business Partners. Need to answer the questions: whats out there?, is it any good?, does it incorporate our key talent and workforce planning principles? etc.
Researching (academic and evidence-based) best and next-generation practices; objective perspective on the utility of, need for and cost-benefit views on competency models, career paths etc., based on market and academic research. Does not need to be an academic, but should have good research and critical reasoning skills.
Presenting current state, gap analysis and recommendations to head of OE (late May/early June 2020); prepare board-quality decks with well-researched evidence and clear support for suggested direction of travel.
Aligning process for proposing/challenging multiple competency models at ING with the Global Job Architecture team to make sure that work done meets with their project planning / deliverables.
How to succeed
Knowledge of (and preferably experience in) developing/ implementing competency models in global organisations: basic knowledge of competencies and how organisations benefit from this as well as basic knowledge of job architecture, and where the market is moving with competency models
Project management skills: basic knowledge of core project management techniques, e.g. project planning, stakeholder mapping, decision making processes as well as experience in applying project management techniques effectively in a global organisation with multiple stakeholders.
Conceptual thinking and research skills: you can grasp complex information easily and translate this into practical and actionable advice or solutions (verbally and written). Also, you are able to analyse scientific research, best and next practices and translate key insights into practical, workable solutions for ING
Communication: Translating technical and complex information concisely, adjusting style and approach to optimise outcomes and creating opportunities for others to contribute to discussion and debate
Influencing skills: you use data and facts to support arguments and explains potential consequences, you provide information at strategically opportune moments to achieve own goals and you have the ability to influence and share vision with a team. You also look at own objectives from the other persons point of view
Planning and organising: you connect own plans with other departments and teams, you also take into account future goals and possible changes when setting priorities
