Shell Asset Management Company BV (SAMCo) in Rijswijk provides asset management services to a number of defined benefit Shell pension schemes and other Shell related entities. The total Assets under Management (AuM) is currently around USD 85 billion. SAMCo is supervised by the Authority for the Financial Markets and the Dutch Central Bank. The company is internationally oriented with clients in multiple different countries and has approximately 160 employees. SAMCos objective is to provide high quality and cost-effective investment advice and asset management services to its clients. On behalf of its clients, SAMCo invests in fixed income, equities, derivatives and alternative investments such as private equity, real estate and hedge funds all over the world. Specific parts of the activities are also outsourced to external managers. Continuous change in financial markets and regulations as well as the diversity of SAMCos clients and the products they invest in, make it a professionally challenging environment to work in.
SAMCo Operations consists of 17 people divided into three teams which are the Cash Management, Settlements and the Corporate Actions, Static Data & Reconciliation team. Each team has a Supervisor who is responsible for the day to day monitoring of the activities and manages the team. Overall the Head Operations is responsible. Adequate and secure communication between the teams and other departments within SAMCo is crucial for an optimal day-to-day process.
The Operations department has a central role within SAMCo as most of the activities performed within SAMCo has consequences on Operations or needs involvement of the department. Key challenges for Operations is to further integrate and make use of the Dimension system, further professionalize the team / department, improve Straight Through Processing (STP) and implement any (Operational) regulatory requirements.
The team is responsible for all transactions & settlement related activities regarding Equities, Bonds, Repo, Swaps, Futures and Collateral Management. The activities for Equities and Bonds are highly automated and needs therefore mainly monitoring and exception processing. Automation and straight through processing for for the other asset classes is- and will be further implemented as well. All these activities have daily deadlines and need to be executed within the time limits effectively and accurately.
Currently we are looking for an Officer Settlements. In this role you will be responsible to execute the daily activities for, in principle, a specific asset class by liaising with internal departments but also with external contacts like counterparties, futures and OTC clearers and the custodian. If and when necessary, the officer Settlements functions also as back-up for activities to be done in other asset classes.

Pro-actively liaise with relevant departments (in- and outside SAMCo
