Merger & Acquisition Analyst
Staples Solutions is seeking an analyst for the Mergers & Acquisitions team (M&A Analyst).
A strong communicator with great analytical skills who can manage stakeholders at all levels. You will help Staples Solutions to execute on its growth ambitions to become a more sustainable, long- term enterprise and in doing so create meaningful value for the Companys shareholders.
This role entails being responsible for assisting in the research, analysis and execution of merger & acquisition opportunities. The position is within a small core M&A team and provides the opportunity to work directly on transactions from deal sourcing, all the way through execution and integration.
As M&A Analyst you will have the opportunity to work with Senior Executives at Staples Solutions on tasks such as surveying the landscape of various industries and markets, developing the Companys acquisition pipeline, and evaluating specific inorganic opportunities. In addition the role requires close interaction with the Private Equity and Operating teams from Cerberus, the majority stakeholder of Staples Solutions.
You will be a part of the M&A team consisting of 3 top-level professionals. At Staples we want to give not only a job but a career. Progression from this position could be upwards mobility into more senior finance of strategy roles.
Conduct research to identify potential candidates for acquisition and prepare target profile assessments;
Conduct market research and analyze general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the organizations growth strategies and operations;
Support M&A transactions from sourcing to close, manage day-to-day deal execution, collaborating across functions to support deal processes;
Perform and prepare valuation and financial analyses to assess the financial impact of potential transactions;
Assist in due diligence by coordinating the information flow, reviewing and analyzing company information;
Assist in coordinating and supporting cross-functional integration and post integration processes;
Assist in the development and documentation of M&A deal processes and procedures to enhance operational efficiency;
Work independently to produce high-quality deliverables such as deal summaries, company overviews, Board materials and other presentation materials for use in M&A transactions or strategic discussions;
Execute Staples brand within the category strategies to drive overall profitability working closely with category merchants
You are a graduate with a Master degree in business, finance or a related discipline and have a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in corporate finance. Experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate mergers and acquisitions, consulting or transaction advisory services would be viewed preferentially. You have a sharp analytic mind-set, are highly self-motivated, and have the ability to work under pressure, with tight deadlines and attention to detail.
