Our Inside Sales Team (BPD) is responsible for sales of our Bioproduction (BPD) products, instruments and consumables across Europe and the UK. The team use their specialist scientific knowledge to build relationships with current and prospective customers over the phone and in-person, understanding the customers specialist requirements and providing the most appropriate and innovative solutions from the Thermo Fisher Bioproduction product portfolio.
As Manager of the Inside Sales Team (BPD), you will be accountable for sales across Europe and the UK, managing your team of remote-based Inside Sales Representatives to achieve strong sales results. Your team members will be based in company offices across Europe and you will travel to meet with them and attend joint customer visits on a regular basis. You will lead business processes and manage resources effectively and will be accountable to Sales Leadership for achieving the agreed upon sales targets, financial targets and service coverage for the region.
This is a fairly new team, so you will really have an opportunity to make an impact and build your own team from the ground up. As BPD is one of our high growth markets, we anticipate significant expansion of this team year on year and excellent long-term prospects for this role. This role is a remote-based role, involving frequent travel across Europe and the UK on a weekly basis (1-2 days per week on average). When not travelling, you will be able to work from home. As your team is based in our offices across Europe, we are open to hiring the successful candidate in any of the following locations: Glasgow, Scotland; Darmstadt, Germany; Stockholm, Sweden; Madrid, Spain; Paris, France; or Bleiswijk, The Netherlands.
What will you do?
Develop a business plan to meet or exceed business goals agreed upon with Sales management for the region
With your team, manage contracts & quotations to Customers
Through your team of Inside Sales Representatives, direct the process of selling products and services to customers and prospects
Regularly monitor customers needs and the Companys product offerings to ensure solutions are understood by team members
Ensure appropriate levels of service and responsiveness are provided to accounts
Consistently monitor results of sales process including sales forecasting, pipeline management, and sales tracking through the use of SFDC, Power BI and other designated IT tools
Keep relevant people and team members fully informed of significant changes in customer relationships and the potential impact on the business
Address and resolve customer issues
Participate in the process of attracting, hiring, training and developing your team of Inside Sales Representatives to sell Bioproduction products and services consistent with company standards
Oversee the training and development of team members to meet the required standard and beyond to ensure retention and growth
Serve as a role model and coach for your team in all aspects of the sales process and customer relationship management
Develop and maintain up to date knowledge of markets, products, and buying practices required to effectively compete in the assigned region
Use business acumen and analytical skills to work effectively with internal functions, Field Applications Specialists, Account Managers, Sales Specialists and customers
Who we are looking for: (experience, skills & abilities)
Bachelors Degree in a Life Science; or the equivalent knowledge and experience
Proven track record in a telephone selling role within the Life Sciences sector
Previous people manager experience is an advantage, but we are very open to candidates who would be taking their first step into a people manager role, providing you can demonstrate convincing leadership potential
A strategic and tactical thinker, proficient in developing actionable business plans and demonstrating how to achieve those plans
Strong analytical, business planning & presentation skills
Ability to interface effectively with all customer types across functions and at all levels to gain commitment, obtain resources, and achieve desired results
Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, comfortable adapting to a rapidly changing environment
Fluent in English
