As IT Solution Engineer, you work in the Markets Grid. You are responsible for adjustments to the IT landscape on a daily basis, to make sure the business can service our clients efficiently and effectively. Today, as well as in the future, ABN AMRO will continue to use the latest technologies.
The IT Solution Engineer position is described best in three words:
Complexity: the world of Markets affects all facets of the bank (such as transactions, accounting and legal). As IT Solution Engineer you are capable of weighing your options between delivering short term IT solutions on the one hand, and on the other hand guarantee long term solutions wherein IT architecture is secured.
Decisiveness: our business line is demanding. You are able to discuss the possibilities and limitations of our customers wishes. Youre client oriented, but the IT architecture strategy is represented and monitored by you.
Tech savvy: the IT environment provides many opportunities to tactically and strategically influence IT events such as Blockchain, DevOps, Cloud and more!
As IT Solution Engineer you are responsible for the architectural support of all IT changes that are carried out within the Markets Grids. The complexity of this function lies in leading and supporting the Blocks, for which thorough in-depth knowledge of the Grids is required. Next to substantial knowledge of Markets, you must be aware of the Standards and Guidelines provided by Enterprise Architecture (CADM), and follow them through. Moreover, the Solution Intent is a sustainable solution based on the Future State Architecture. It is your responsibility to offer solutions that work for both the customer and IT. You play an important role in implementing the IT strategy of the bank.
What are your responsibilities?
You are the first point of contact for Markets architecture
You support 3-5 Blocks
You are aware of ABN AMROs vision regarding the architecture/FSA and are capable of translating this vision to solutions for Markets
You formulate the Solution Intent for all changes within Markets, ensuring the solution is in line with the standard but also meets business demand
You are a sparring partner for the Engineering Leads and Product Owners of Markets
You maintain the Current State Architecture of Markets
You timely escalate engineering and architecture issues to the Enterprise Architect, Product Owner or IT Engineering Lead
Your working environment
In the Agile world of ABN AMRO, IT is responsible for how the Agile teams operate, while the business product owners determine what focus areas the teams work on. This happens in close cooperation between the different grids (domains/knowledge areas).
Delivery Domain Markets is the bank within the bank, of which the dealing room is best known. The dealing room trades in complex capital products, for example with/for other banks, multinationals, pension and hedge funds.Markets provides access to the financial markets with a wide range of custom made services and solutions for risk management, capital market products, investment products and financing products. Our clients are institutional investors, multinationals and private banking clients.
You are the person that has an eye for architectural challenges. You listen to your customers wishes, but are also able to convince that same customer if a solution if impossible or undesirable. You deliver quality in your Solution Intent, but when needed you are also able pragmatic. Furthermore, you must be able to work on architecture on a strategic level, whilst also being able to deliver a detailed solution.
We are looking for a team player who moves effortlessly between different teams. Someone who is able to make the right decisions about his/her time spent in these teams, to make sure the team is able to work independently on IT delivery.Do you think you have what it takes? Check your profile:
University degree with 5 years relevant work experience, of which 3 years in the field of system engineering/architecture
In-depth knowledge of relevant applications, how they contribute to fulfilling the business requirements and the ABN AMRO architecture
TOGAF and Archimate certified
Autonomously driven to understand the architecture of the bank and to know the therein (planned) developments
Knowledge about IT development methods, IT languages, systems solutions, technical IT device issues, IT deployment and Test & Release Management
Knowledge about infrastructure within your area of expertise
Knowledge about current IT trends, both inside and outside your area of expertise (Azure Cloud, API, Open Banking, DevOps, CI/CD, SOA, etc.)
Knowledge about DevOps, Agile (Scrum) and Lean methods
