Global Packaging Excellence Manager
Office location: Geleen, the Netherlands
Scope: Global, 50% EU, 25% China, 25% US
with 30% travelling involved

We are looking for an ambitious Global Packaging Excellence Manager ready to take on new challenges. As DSM Engineering Plastics heads towards profitable growth using sustainable approach, Packaging excellence manager plays very important role in simplifying, standardizing our packaging portfolio globally driving productivity keeping sustainability in mind. The position reports to Global Business Excellence Director & works closely with Global Logistics Director to make positive impact on business via packaging excellence.
Key areas of accountabilities
Lead the implementation of the multiyear roadmap for packaging materials and further fine tune along the way.
Control the phase in/ phase out process of packaging materials per site. Initiate and oversee the MOC related process of it.
Drive for standardization of the packaging material portfolio globally. On both the primary packaging as well as the secondary packaging materials.
Set up guidance related to the customer service levels on which level of customer specific solutions can be offered. Differentiate between Platinium, Standard and Basic. Align with commercial directors what the the customer requirements are in the market/ industry.
Define critical materials and install a second supplier for these in the portfolio (dual source).
Guide the introduction of global standardized labeling of the materials. (e.g. information stored on the bag/box, infomartion added on a pallet/ skid).
Align with the global packaging planner on the optimal planning parameters to find a good balance between cost and inventory levels.
Ensures packaging masterdata is correctly placed and maintained in the SAP system
Manages the supplier relation together with category manager
Key areas of responsibilities
Drive an annual project portfolio that generates on average 2% of annual spend in terms of savings (productivity).
Actively explore the market for innovations in packaging materials.
Pro-actively work with the supply planners to seek for rationalization opportunities.
Lead initiatives to help reduce the likelihood that packaging materials get damages to support a further reduction of logistic related complaints.
Collect specifications from relevant content providers (manufacturing, marcom, R&T, transport/warehouse) and put it together in an overall specification for the supplier
Ensure DSMs SHE & Q are taken into account where possible
Conduct, in collaboration with the production teams, tests for new product introductions.
Bachelor degree, preferably in Engineering, Logistics or other relevant discipline.
5 -10 years experiences with handling packaging materials and the related value chain.
Experience in the chemical industry is preferred.
Has a passion to bring people together and get them engaged for new developments.
Has a strong analytical & influencing skills
Is a project manager with logistics knowledge
Seeks continuously for opportunities for de-complexing and productivity.
Has the ability to translate a problem into an opportunity.
Excellent communication skills, can engage with all levels in the organization.
Fluent in English, both in writing and verbally;
