As part of our growth strategy and our plans to establish an up to date Research and Development department for our Vegetable Business Unit were looking for a Germplasm Coordinator, based at KWS Vegetables headquarters in Wageningen, the Netherlands, or alternatively in Almeria, Spain. The GC will develop and implement a germplasm acquisition and administration structure. He/She will report to the Global Head of Breeding Vegetables of KWS.
Develop an infrastructure and processes securing the acquisition, maintenance and tracking and tracing of genetic resources. Provide day-to-day help to breeders and scientists globally to enable access to new genetic materials and help with internal procedures. Establish an acquisition and control procedure that minimizes the administrative burden for breeders and scientists. Enable easy and compliant access to genetic materials worldwide and prevent violations of MTAs, IP rules and other laws or agreements.

Develop an infrastructure and processes securing the acquisition, maintenance and tracking and tracing of genetic resources.
Establish good relations with various Genebanks and ensure access to all relevant germplasm collections worldwide.
Develop and manage a database that enables the administration, tracking and tracing of genetic materials.
In collaboration with Breeders and Scientists and in agreement with the Global Head of Breeding Vegetables acquire germplasm of various vegetable crops.
Advise Breeders and Scientists on issues related to the compliant acquisition of genetic materials.
Solve practical issues related to hampering procedures regarding the acquisition, maintenance and storage of germplasm.
Bring serious problems to the attention of stakeholders and work together on solutions.
Make sure that all contractual obligations are be fulfilled.
Be the intermediate contact between the Legal Department and R&D regarding germplasm, MTAs, IP and related issues.
MSc in a plant science discipline;
Knowledge of various Plant Research areas, mainly Breeding.
Interest in and knowledge of topics related to biodiversity and legal aspects within the plant science world.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Language skills: English (fluent).
Pragmatic and Problem solving attitude.
Able to understand stakeholders problems and translate them into practical solutions.
Knowledge and Understanding of legal language and contracts.
