UNILEVER IN THE NETHERLANDS IS LOOKING FOR A FOODS DATA MODELER
Location: Vlaardingen ( Q4 2019 the role will move to Wageningen )

Unilever R&D will build a new Global Foods Innovation Centre in Wageningen, the Netherlands. The Foods R&D organizations, currently based in Vlaardingen (The Netherlands), Heilbronn (Germany) and Poznan (Poland) will be co-located in the new centre.
In this way Unilever will create critical mass in expertise areas to ensure that the technologies ultimately bring benefit-led, breakthrough innovations to the markets. In addition, we aim to evolve our R&D sites into innovation ecosystems to leverage the knowledge and expertise of external partners.
The new centre is expected to be fully operational by Quarter 4 – 2019.
MAIN JOB PURPOSE:
To develop predictive models for all key Foods product and processing properties.
Visualize and analyse data with state-of-the-art data mining and data modelling techniques.
Develop predictive data models in an experimental design context and embed them into Unilevers existing tools.
Pro-active partnering with Foods product and process developers to combine their domain knowledge with your data expertise.
Plan, agree and execute part of the Foods model development portfolio.
Clearly communicate your work to various audiences/stakeholders and fellow modelling experts.
Build, develop and share your modelling knowledge in order to develop the capabilities of the data team.
Contribute to the development of the Foods strategy for data modelling and predictive simulation.
Education: PhD /Master of Science in computational physics/chemistry, process engineering or computer science.
Deep knowledge of data mining & advanced modelling techniques such as linear/ logistic regression, PCA, PLS, random forests, neural networks and non-linear optimization.
Fully operational in several statistics packages, such as Matlab, Python, R, SAS and analytics databases such as SQL and MS Azure as well as data visualisation packages such as Power BI.
5 years of working experience as data modeller with a proven track record.
Basic knowledge of the physics and chemistry of Foods.
Ability to work independently as a data scientist in a R&D focused environment – define and translate business problem into a data/modelling opportunity.
Team player who can give direction and function in multi-disciplinary teams
Reporting and presentation skills.
Ability to work in a multi-functional, multi-cultural environment.
Fluent in English (written and spoken).
