You use your expertise and experience for their benefit and thereby you contribute to a healthy credit portfolio and minimal credit losses for Rabobank. FRI is responsible for corporate clients with financial difficulties within the Wholesale Rural & Retail (WRR) organization. FRI has the ambition to keep its clients performing and to support them through difficult times in the best possible manner. FRI works closely with the Business departments and takes the interests of both its clients as well as Rabobank into account. As (restructuring) partner and expert, FRI offers specialist assistance to clients in distress with the aim to satisfactorily return these clients back to the Business departments. If the risk becomes too high, FRI uses its expertise and skills to reduce and/or terminate the financing relationship with clients in a respectful manner in order to minimize losses for both the client as well as Rabobank.
The Director is responsible for managing remain/retain and/or exit clients transferred from the Business departments. Additionally, the Director will deliver advising services to relationship managers and credit officers on early detection of financial difficulties, steps to remedy such conditions and sharing lessons learned in workshops.
Making a difference
Management of a designated portfolio of clients with a Loan Quality Classification of Substandard, Doubtful or Loss in a diverse product environment (a.o. Loan Products Group, Trade &Commodity Finance, Acquisition Finance, Project Finance and Export Finance), including any activities in relation to corporate and financial restructuring and in some cases involvement in foreclosing, litigation or liquidation processes;
Maintaining a relationship with banking group, financial advisors and external counsels;
Regular reporting on the designated portfolio;
Advisory role on watch list accounts to provide guidance and assistance to relationship managers in developing a strategy to prevent further deterioration;
Foster consistency and best practices in the management and valuation of distressed assets;
Stakeholder management (such as senior product management, relationship managers and credit officers), including providing feedback, relevant support and training;
Comply with laws, rules and regulations, including but not limited to Anti Money Laundering and, where relevant OFAC/Sanctions requirements and the reporting of suspicious activities, as well as all Rabobank policies, procedures and guidelines;
The Director FRI will hierarchically report to the [Deputy] Head of FRI. The role will include frequent travel.

Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. FR&R brings talented people together to manage corporate clients with a loan quality classification of Substandard or lower (the “FR&R Portfolio”). FR&R is worldwide responsible for the FR&R Portfolio and the provisioning policy. FRI is the international division of FR&R and consists of around 90 people worldwide and can be subdivided into the Local Financial Restructuring teams (LFR) and the Utrecht Financial Restructuring team (UFR). The Local teams are located in 10 countries/13 offices.
Customer focus, analysing & interpreting, supporting & cooperating, building and energizing the network are clearly essential for the role of Director FRI.
You have common sense which will help you to apply proper judgement, taking into account all relevant stakeholders and circumstances. In addition, it’s important that you recognize everything in the checklist below:
Bachelor or Master degree in financial or target industry;
At least 10 years of experience in account management, risk management or restructuring environment including a track record of leading transactions;
Knowledge of the WRR portfolio, countries, cultures and languages is preferred;
Knowledge of loan structuring and risk mitigation;
Understanding of credit fundamentals and (basic) legal knowledge;
Preferably existing network within WRR.

This position is scaled in scale 11 (between 5.273,17 and 7.533,10)
