(Cross-border) Product Area Lead Corebanking

First of all, what do we mean with Corebanking? We define the Corebanking domain as the domain behind the various channels, the so called back-ends, for processing of daily banking transactions and posting updates to accounts and other financial records. Beside payments it touches upon other domains, like deposits, loans and it has interfaces with general ledgers and reporting tools.
What you’ll do
As a PAL Corebanking, you have a crucial role in defining, delivery and running the real-time bank. It is an IT driven area, however in order to make the right decisions you must have a clear view on how the business side of the payments market and know how payment flows, such as Direct Debit or Instant Payments, should look like for our customers. Whether this is a private customer or a large organization. We are talking about millions of transactions a day in all varieties were customers expect it to always work. Anytime, anywhere via any device. Any disruption has major impact.
Being responsible for the delivery of about 30 squads, you lead the way to create future proof payment flows. You cannot do this by yourself, as part of your scope is delivered by Group Services (e.g. WB/Transaction Services). Together with these other parties in the payment chain you will create and execute the roadmap.
As owner of the Account Management domain the scope is not restricted to only Payments. Also transaction and reporting flows of other products are in scope of your responsibility. The right stakeholder management with all the parties involved will define your success.
The Product Area Lead is a full-time job, with responsibility for part of a tribe’s WHAT. You will work together with the squads Product Owners in the Product Area concerned and you are also a delegated Asset Owner, with responsibility for risk and data. Currently, all the squads of your area are situated in the Netherlands and have a focus on the NL landscape and market. However, it is planned to have Belgian projects or squads assigned to your scope in the future.
Your key responsibilities
Define, execute, run and simplify the Target (IT) landscape for payments processing
Delivery of processes beyond Payments (e.g. current accounts, savings, lending)
Be in the lead for NL+BE on strategic initiatives, such as PSD, Instant payments, CSM strategy
As the majority of your scope is in The Netherlands, your place of employment needs to be in NL.
You strengthen the ING way of working while safeguarding the Orange Code as a role model.
You stimulate cross-border interaction between people, tribes, squads and chapters (within and outside your own Product Area).
You create and maintain the new cross-cultural collaboration by creating awareness & understanding, leveraging on diversity and by communicating effectively.
Together with the Tribelead, 2 other PALs for the Products and Cards areas and 7 Chapterleads you act as the Leadershipteam of the Tribe.
How you succeed
Experience and/or affinity with Payments is a must
Proven experience or strong affinity with the ING Agile Way of Working is a plus
Sound experience in building strategic roadmaps
Expertise in driving and steering multidisciplinary teams
Proven experience in strategic projects with high impact
Excellent level of English, good level of Dutch is a plus
IT background or affinity is a plus
Ability to display style flexibility to teams and adapt plan, approach and behavior to the different needs and situations
Strong organizational sensitivity; ability to understand and take into account the underlying issues, opportunities and dynamics of an organization
Ability to take responsibility, steer strategy and realizations based on facts and data; managerial courage to question and make decisions
