This results in substantial financial savings and major improvements in safety and quality. Shell exposure to flying, at 62,000 flying hours per year, equates to the activity of a moderate size airline. The Shell Aircraft Air Transport Business Excellence is staffed by a team of Aviation Advisers and is part of Shell Aircraft International which also includes the Corporate Fleet department.

We are currently looking for an Aviation Advisor to join our team in Rotterdam (NL) or Houston (USA).
What is the role?
As Aviation Advisor, you’re going to be playing a vital role in maintaining and improving our operational excellence by contributing to Air Transport safety by acting as a specialist, aviation safety advisor, within the Air Transport Business Excellence (ATBE) section of Shell Aircraft.
In practice that means that you’ll be enhancing safety assurance across Shell and Shell JV Business Units (BU) by conducting operational and technical audits of air transport operators, including current and potential contractors and producing reports in accordance with the Shell Aircraft processes and procedures. The work also includes assessments of RPAS operators and aviation facilities (e.g. airports, helidecks, landing sites). You will provide operational and technical advice to Shell and Shell JV BU on the safe and efficient use of aircraft and air transport services.
You will work with the aviation management staff to fully address the safety critical recommendations within operator audit reports, by their agreed due dates, and notify the teams of the discrepancy and escalating to a higher level where appropriate.
Besides this you can also expect to participate in the investigation of air safety accidents and incidents as required.
In the role of Aviation Advisor you will act as Focal Point or Subject Matter Expert for specific areas of the aviation industry (as nominated) and to keep up-to-date in those subjects, understanding that these responsibilities may change from time to time.
What do we need from you?
To be successful in this role you are holder of a
fixed or rotary wing pilots licence, ATPL (or equivalent) OR
an ofan aircraft maintenance engineers licence with certification privileges (EASA Part-66 Cat-B1/B2 or equivalent) AND
you have a strong track record in aviation SMS and its effective Application.
In addition to relevant aircraft experience, you will demonstrate people management skills having held management positions in their respective discipline.
The relevant experience in the aviation industry may be gained within an aircraft operating company or equivalent military organization.
Extensive knowledge of aviation quality & safety management systems, aviation legislation and their application is required. The ability to write and brief all levels of management succinctly on complex aviation issues is also essential.
Shell’s aviation professionals are required to travel extensively in support of our work and as such, must be able to travel anywhere in the world.
As the aviation advisors have to be able to go offshore, on offshore medical check is condition for hire after selection.
