As a Senior Project Manager Dredging & Workboats you will manage a core team of Engineers in Gorinchem and will also be responsible for managing the outsourcing of engineering with internal and external partners. Due to your planning skills these projects will be realized in time, within budget and will comply to all our quality requirements. You will also liaise with engineering partners and maintain contact with the client and the suppliers. Moreover you will ensure that the yard and the relevant classification society have all the information that they require.
In a Multi Disciplinairy team you will manage the assigned portfolio. With your team, you will start up new stock vessels, modify them according to customer specification when sold and will initiate updates and maintenance on standard ship types. Beside the multi project responsibility you are responsible for the development of the team and the engineers in your team.
Your work location will be Gorinchem.
Tasks & Responsibilities
Coordinate and oversee multiple projects with regard to the engineering of a ship, the purchasing of systems or components and the outsourcing of work to subcontractors;
Manage engineering in 4 phases: design check, basic engineering, detailed engineering and production support;
Manage, supervise and assess an engineering team;
Manage Class and national authorities approval process;
Provision of engineering support during the construction of the ship;
Assess input from our own employees, but also from suppliers and partners;
Monitor on quality, progress and costs and prepare status reports.
Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or in Mechanical Engineering
At least 5 years experience in managing multiple engineering projects
Experience in managing and coaching a group of engineers
Good communication skills in English
You are quality conscious and teamwork is important to you
You have good communication skills in managing stakeholders
Willingness to travel on a frequent basis.

Department Information Each cluster has its own engineering department and several cluster- cutting departments such as Engineering Support, Standards, Reproduction and CAD/IFS Support. Engineering is responsible for the creation and management of the engineering packages of the cluster. Engineering means: the production of drawings, engineering calculations, production of technical specifications and construction instructions. This applies for both the naval part (hull, structure, stability, etc.), mechanical part (propulsion, pipe systems, etc.) and Electrical. The Engineering Department is responsible for the design and basic engineering of existing and new ship types, and coordinates and controls the outsourcing of detail engineering undertaken by other Damen establishments, including foreign offices, or by third parties. Each drawing group has access to employees with a naval, mechanical or electrical training (or any specialistic field of expertise).
